Cairns Diesel Service (CDS) — Workshop Terms and Conditions
ABN 51 069 261 043

Vehicle Condition on Arrival

When a vehicle is presented to Cairns Diesel Service (CDS) for repairs or servicing, it is accepted on the understanding that it is in a safe and roadworthy condition unless otherwise disclosed by the owner or authorised representative. CDS will take all reasonable care when handling and inspecting your vehicle, but we cannot be held responsible for pre-existing faults, damage, or deteriorating components that fail during testing, diagnosis, or repair.

Diagnostics and Inspection Limitations

Diagnostics are performed based on the information and symptoms presented at the time of booking. Some faults may not present consistently and may only become evident after road testing, further dismantling, or once primary faults are resolved. Additional repair costs may arise from issues identified during this process. No repairs will be undertaken without prior customer approval.

Illegal Modifications and Fines

By leaving your vehicle with CDS for servicing, diagnosis, or repairs, you confirm the vehicle is free from illegal modifications. Should the vehicle be found to contain illegal modifications, and CDS or its staff incur fines or penalties as a result (including during testing or road use), the customer will be fully responsible for reimbursing the cost of any such fines or penalties.

Completion Timeframes

CDS will always aim to meet quoted timeframes; however, delays can occur due to part availability, unexpected complications, or additional faults discovered during repairs. We will communicate openly and promptly about any changes to the estimated completion time.

Pre-existing Faults and Progressive Failures

Many vehicles are brought to us already exhibiting mechanical, electrical, or drivability issues. CDS will use best practice diagnostics and experience to isolate the primary fault; however, it is common for secondary issues to exist, or for new symptoms to become apparent after initial repairs are completed. CDS cannot accept responsibility for hidden or progressive failures that may emerge during or after servicing and repairs.

Warranty on Workmanship

CDS provides a warranty on workmanship for repairs and services performed by our technicians, as per Australian Consumer Law. This warranty does not cover unrelated components, subsequent damage due to neglect, misuse, or failure to act on our repair recommendations.

Parts and Component Failure

Where new parts are fitted, manufacturer warranty terms apply. CDS is not liable for the failure of components unrelated to the work performed or for parts supplied by the customer.

Plastic Components Replacement Authority

Due to the nature of modern vehicles and the common deterioration of plastic components, the customer grants CDS blanket authority to replace any worn, brittle, or broken plastic parts, clips, fittings, or connectors as deemed necessary during the repair process. The cost of replacement parts and associated labour will be added to the final invoice.

Vehicle Storage and Collection

Vehicles must be collected within 24 hours of notification of completion unless prior arrangements are made. Storage fees may apply after this period if there is room to store otherwise your car will be street parked off site. CDS is not liable for any damage or theft once a vehicle is ready for collection and has remained uncollected beyond the agreed time.

Limitation of Liability
  1. Limitation of Liability
CDS takes all reasonable care with customer vehicles, but we accept no liability for:

  • Pre-existing faults, hidden damage, or age-related failures that occur during or after our services

  • Additional faults or failures arising from manufacturer defects or prior poor maintenance

  • Losses due to vehicle downtime or consequential damage unless caused directly by proven negligence on our part

  1. Acceptance of Terms
By leaving your vehicle with CDS for service, diagnosis, or repairs, you acknowledge and accept these terms and conditions in full
