FNQ Conditions Make It Worse
The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) relies on exhaust heat to burn off soot. In short-trip or light-load driving, the exhaust never gets hot enough to complete a burn. Add humid air, high idle time, and dusty work environments — and soot builds faster than it can clear.
Other factors include:
- EGR & intake carbon — more soot loading per kilometre.
- Old or blocked injectors — poor atomisation = more smoke.
- Bad fuel or oil vapour contamination.
- Sensors failing — temp or pressure sensors that misread and cancel regens.
